How long do I have to wait to file bankruptcy after I transfer my real estate property to my daughter? It’s not my principle residence. The property is a vacation home in FL. I wasn’t planning to file bankruptcy but the economy isn’t doing me any favors. I will be filing a chaper 7 in Michigan. How long do I need to wait in order to not lose the house in FL?

If you are not sure, please do not guess.

Foreclosure Help

He filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy with his wife this past fall. While we were married, we bought the car I am driving now, I am the primary borrower, he is the secondary. The title says me OR him and he was not required to sign in order for me to register here (I moved out of state for a year after the divorce then came back). I tried calling my leinholder (Chase) but they won’t refinance and my credit now sucks because I was out of work (right when I moved out of state) due to a broken leg.

I have been making my payments on time (for the last year almost) but am too scared to call Chase and ask them. I realize I should ultimately call a lawyer but figured I could gain some insight here. I have gotten a few notices from his laywer, listing myself along with the rest of his creditors. He owes me nothing - and in our divorce the papers say we were to take the cars we were presently driving, but neither was listed by make/model etc.

Can/will they repo my car? PS - I live in NH.
I was thinking perhaos because his name is also on the loan they’d take it…

My mother co-signed on my car loan 4 years ago, and I still have 2 years of payments left. I’ve made all my payments on time.

Now my mom’s about to declare bankruptcy, and her lawyer says it’ll affect my credit when she does, but that doesn’t sound right… is it?

(My husband and I are looking into buying a house in the next couple years, and we don’t want my mom’s bad credit to affect that.)
I talked to the bank that I have the loan through, and they said I could refinance, but that will either raise the payment amount or the amount of time I’m making payments.

Plus, I think I still owe more than the car is worth :( Also, I’m unemployed, so could my husband’s income be used for refinancing the loan?
The loan was for about $18,000 and I still owe about $6,000. I didn’t need her as a co-signer when I got the loan, but the dealership said that my payments would be lower if she did.

My van was included in the bankruptcy and all was forgiven and then when i called the bank for the title they said I still owed them about 1700. I have asked my lawyer to handle this and initially she said she had to wait until the election was over in the county and and find a judge who would be open to this???She has since petitioned the local judge once so far who denied this request to release the lien. She has re-entered a new petition recently ,but I haven’t heard a response and call my lawyer everyday. She says if this is also denied she would have to do some research into other bankruptcy cases or call some other lawyer for advice. I am so tired of being jerked around on this. I have remained civil but its very hard not having a vehicle. This vehicle doesnt run presently (needs about 1700.00 repair work and I dont want to repair it if I dont even own it) Isn’t bankruptcy for the sole purpose of ending debt so families can move forward? Help!!!

The information I get is mixed concerning bankruptcy and school loans. I’m told they can’t be done. Then when I insist I’m told only under certain circumstances like 6 months of life left or extreme disability. Most lawyers don’t want to give any information, it seems as though a wall is up when it comes to school loans. I went to the school loan’s website and they have terminology that looks as if you can get out of them. They mentioned nothing about the extreme circumstances. In my profession, I view many closed loan files. I recently saw on a credit report a ch 13 bankruptcy and a school loan was included.
Does anyone have information on this subject? I would really appreciate any help you can give me.

I live in Alabama and I want to file for chapter 13 Bankruptcy. The consultation with the lawyer is 75 dollars, but I’ve been all over the internet trying to find somewhere where it says how much it’s really gonna be. Normal bankruptcy….ballpark estimate
