I’m looking to find a good lawyer that practices in or around the Alexandria/Springfield area. I’m hoping this divorce isn’t particularly complicated, but knowing my soon-to-be-ex, you never know. I’m also hoping to find someone that isn’t going to cost me a fortune.

Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

You deal with multi-million dollar estates, so your fees are likely to be very good. There is always lots of work because celebrities get divorced so often. And the work is easy all you do is say “irreconcilable differences” and split it 50-50 since celebrities don’t want the attention anyways. It’s only a little more difficult when there are kids.

I want to become a corprate lawyer, and i want to know the best path to take. I am considering going to the Air Force Academy, but I’m not sure i will be able to get my law degree. I am also considering going to a school in the UK because it is alot shorter but I don’t know if I will be able to practice in america if i choose to. I am also considering taking a traditional path by getting a four year degree in america then proceeding to a law school. What would be the best option with the least amount of expense and time?

I plan to go to see a lawyer about my upcoming divorce. I plan to go to see him with the soon to be ex, and hope we can have a simple cooperative divorce. Since this will be the first meeting, I am trying to put together a list of questions to ask the lawyer. I am looking for any suggestions as to what queations I could add to my list. Also, if anyone else who has gone through this kind of situation, what I may expect to hear from the lawyer, and possible scenerios to look out for.

How long do I have to wait to file bankruptcy after I transfer my real estate property to my daughter? It’s not my principle residence. The property is a vacation home in FL. I wasn’t planning to file bankruptcy but the economy isn’t doing me any favors. I will be filing a chaper 7 in Michigan. How long do I need to wait in order to not lose the house in FL?

If you are not sure, please do not guess.

(Every lawyer I called gave a different answer)

He filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy with his wife this past fall. While we were married, we bought the car I am driving now, I am the primary borrower, he is the secondary. The title says me OR him and he was not required to sign in order for me to register here (I moved out of state for a year after the divorce then came back). I tried calling my leinholder (Chase) but they won’t refinance and my credit now sucks because I was out of work (right when I moved out of state) due to a broken leg.

I have been making my payments on time (for the last year almost) but am too scared to call Chase and ask them. I realize I should ultimately call a lawyer but figured I could gain some insight here. I have gotten a few notices from his laywer, listing myself along with the rest of his creditors. He owes me nothing - and in our divorce the papers say we were to take the cars we were presently driving, but neither was listed by make/model etc.

Can/will they repo my car? PS - I live in NH.
I was thinking perhaos because his name is also on the loan they’d take it…

Is it true that these cases are very hard to win if you feel you’ve been wrongfully terminated? Do attorneys take these cases on contingency…or are they 100% fee based?

I know requirements probably vary from school to school, but I’m becoming interested in studying law and I don’t have the highest grade point average. I have about a 2.2 as of this year, but I’m only a sophomore. Would I get accepted to law school?
I’m not shooting for like.. Harvard. A few of my sister’s friends went to small law schools near San Francisco and are making very decent money. I’m planning on going to community college beforehand also, I forgot to mention.

She says that the amount ($1500) covers filing ($325) the papers and any hours billed after the retainer are at $125/hr. I have prepared most ofthe paperwork myself and there (as it stands) are no conflicts. She said it all depends on the lefwork that has to be done. Does this seem good?
